VIEW ALL PRICES

Banoka Bush Camp is situated in the Khwai Concession, one of the most diverse areas in northern Botswana, with a wealth of wildlife to be seen.It is scenically located along the tree line overlooking a lagoon with the whole camp raised off the ground to take in the view.
Banoka's open-sided main communal area and its expansive deck overlook the lagoon, with views on to the lily-covered waterway. To one side is a bar area, often used for pre-dinner drinks, while at the water’s edge is the main dining area. A very comfortable and tastefully decorated seating area provides a great place to relax in the afternoon.

Room

Banoka Bush Camp is built along the tree line overlooking a lagoon; the whole camp is raised off the ground to take in the view. Accommodation is in ten en-suite tented rooms complete with private verandas. There are two family tents which accommodate two adults and two children each. The main area consists of a bar, lounge, dining area and plunge pool and deck. There is an open campfire area to relax in and discuss the day's adventures. The camp is 100% solar powered.

Twin Tent

Canvas tent raised on a wooden deck, with a verandah area and an en-suite bathroom with a toilet, shower and hand basins. Amenities in each tent include soap, shower gel, shampoo, and insect repellent. Spacious, timber-framed, canvas-walled structures, these are elevated on stilts, with wooden steps up to a veranda in front with a couple of camp chairs. Wooden doors lead inside to reveal twin beds, or a double, with a substantial wooden headboard that dominates the room. Behind is a shelving unit for clothes that incorporates an electronic safe. His and hers washbasins, a large mirror and an open-plan shower are also positioned here, while a door leads to a separate toilet. The chalets are simple but well built and very clean cut in design. The windows are mosquito mesh, which can be covered by canvas flaps in the cold winter but provide a cooling breeze in summer.

Family Tent

Family unit comprising two separate tents, approximately 1.5 m apart, sharing one deck area. The children's tent is en-suite and is smaller in size than the main tent. It can effectively be created at Banoka Bushcamp, since two pairs of chalets sit opposite one another, and can be connected via a single set of steps. Although this arrangement would be too far apart for families with younger children, it would suit those with older teenagers.

Dining

The camp is strategically positioned, raised off the ground, enabling guests to enjoy the view over the hippo pools and floodplains of the Khwai River. The main area lies under a canvas canopy and includes a comfortable lounge, dining area and bar, with an open campfire area where guests can relax after dinner.

Recreation

Guided game drives (both day and night drives) will explore the Khwai Concession and adjoining Moremi Game Reserve with nature walks also possible. Mokoro excursions float down the Khwai's secretive channels to provide that classic Delta experience (water dependent). You can expect to see excellent sightings of predators including lion, wild dog, spotted hyaena and African wild cat. Huge herds of buffalo along with elephant, hippo, roan, tsessebe, reedbuck, waterbuck and red lechwe to name a few are abundant in the area. Spectacular birding opportunities also abound, with some 450 species recorded.

A safari learning experience

We visited in June, never having gone on safari before, so there were several things that were a surprise: cold, 5:30 AM wake up calls, and long drives. We are used to cold being from Colorado, but...
